A group is a group of objects. Basically, Blocks are copies that will change if you change one. Groups will not, they are unique. Groups provide an easy way to combine drawing objects that you need to manipulate as a unit. By default, selecting any member of a group selects all the objects in that group, and you can move, copy, rotate, and modify groups just as you can modify individual objects. The following prompts are displayed. Disassociates the objects from a group. Breaks up the group that you select into its component objects.
You will be prompted to type in the name of your group. When you select a grip on an entity that is part of a group the whole group is selected, but only the grip you have selected will stretch. If you delete some grouped geometry, the geometry will be gone but the group definition will remain in the drawing. This operation is not the same as exploding a block, hatch, or dimension.
Objects that belonged to the exploded group remain in the drawing, the group is disbanded but the members are not changed in any other way. If deleting an object or removing it from a group leaves the group empty, the group remains defined but without any geometry. TIP: Exploding an object such as a block instance or hatch that belongs to a group does not automatically add the resulting geometry to the group.
This allows you to use object grouping as part of a script, command macro or action recorder macro. Groups are a quick and easy way of organising drawing elements that need to stay together. If you select a group filter, the Layer Properties Manager will show only layers in that particular filter. When you right click above the filter, you will see layer properties settings that you can apply to all layers in that group.
You can show only layers on a particular filter in Layer Dropdown. That includes layer dropdown in ribbon and toolbar. In opened dialog box, make sure Apply layer filter to layer toolbar is checked. In Layer Properties Manager, choose which layer filter you want to apply.
In this example I use Architecture sub filter. This is very useful if you are working on a specific task that only requires several layers. Having a short list of layers that you actually use is much more convenient than see the entire layers. You can also create filters based on the properties. There is one properties filter available in your drawing by default: All Used Layers. This filter shows all layers that you use in the drawing.

Here's Dieter's response Absolutely correct! You can create a layer group called Paper Space, drag the desired layers into it as members, and then by right-clicking, you can control the visibility and locking states of the group membership with one action.
