With a focus on providing a safe, comfortable and relaxed environment, Worthy Pastures will provide the perfect base camp for a break exploring everything Somerset has to offer, and our information team in partnership with Visit Somerset will be happy to help with recommendations of local attractions, days out and activities for all ages. It will be a much-needed boost to morale all round! Also well worth visiting is the White Spring and its associated temple, another intriguing and tranquil place to explore.
Both locations are viewed as spiritual and healing places steeped in history. Margaret's Chapel and its Royal Magdalene Almshouses dates back to and offers a fascinating window into times gone by, as well as a modern place to step away from crowded tourist sites and relax. But, if you prefer your history seasoned with a few myths and legends you'll love exploring the remains of Glastonbury Abbey. Not only are these pretty ruins to explore, they are also reputed to be the burial place of King Arthur!
A trip to the Somerset Rural Life Museum will help you picture life in the South West as it once was, and runs regular celebrations such as wassailing events in the winter and outdoor activities in the summer. Visitors will also be able to see the 14th century Abbey Barn which at one point belonged to Glastonbury Abbey. To get a taste for the whole area, a guided tour courtesy of the brilliantly-named Tor's Tour of the Tor will show you all of the prominent attractions within Glastonbury.
Perhaps the most famous celebration in the area, the famous Glastonbury Festival known for its incredible live acts, camping and atmosphere also takes place annually a few miles out from the town. Nearby Ham Wall National Nature Reserve is an excellent place for outdoor enthusiasts to explore, while the village of Cheddar and the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare are under an hour by car from Glastonbury.
