Pro ana bracelets why the dragonfly

They might look innocent enough but they are anything but. Red and blue bracelets worn by people suffering from anorexia or bulimia can mean multiple things. They do share the same colours but besides that, they are completely different. Appearance wise, the key difference is the presence of a dragonfly as well as the material it is made out of. The dragonfly symbol was taken from the now defunct website BlueDragonfly which was one of the first pro ana websites.

I myself do wear a red bracelet but with no dragonfly as a sign of hope and that one day I will recover. I do not believe that anorexia is a lifestyle but instead a horrid illness that destroys you from the inside. I am not pro anorexic but instead I am simply anorexic.

I believe recovery is a choice and not something that should be forced upon. Thank you for sharing this! Yes, they need help. Tags: eating-disorders health-and-wellbeing women. Top Comments M.
